In order to ensure the health of their babies, more and more mothers are enduring the hardships of breastfeeding. In addition to having to bear the mental and physical exhaustion, they also have to pay the price of "breast shape collapse." Doctors reveal that this is even more pronounced among mothers with impressive bust sizes. Many hot moms who originally had E or F cup sizes experience severe atrophy of the mammary glands after breastfeeding, leaving their chests looking empty, and in some cases, "only a layer of skin" remains. Later, they regain their confidence through breast augmentation surgery.

Following abdominal lift, breast augmentation is the second most demanded cosmetic surgery among mothers. "Breast tissue contains glands and fat. During breastfeeding, the glands expand significantly, causing the breasts to swell and shrink during the breastfeeding period, which leads to a decrease in skin elasticity," said Dr. Lin Liying from Enherya Plastic Surgery. After stopping breastfeeding, the glands begin to slowly atrophy, and the skin becomes loose, resulting in phenomena such as empty upper cups and flattened breasts postpartum. Additionally, many women actively lose weight after giving birth, and the reduction in fat also makes the breasts smaller.

Lin Liying revealed that there are actually many mothers whose breasts have shrunk, especially since most of them originally had impressive busts, making the contrast even more significant. "For example, there was a mother who originally had a D cup, and while breastfeeding, her bust even increased to an F cup. However, once she stopped breastfeeding, her breasts shrank to just a layer of skin, which made her very upset, so she decided to undergo breast augmentation surgery."

Due to the severity of breast sagging, implant-based breast augmentation is generally more suitable. "If it's autologous fat breast augmentation, it can only increase about one and a half cup sizes, which is not full enough for mothers with glandular atrophy. In contrast, the new material implants can enhance 2 to 3 and a half cup sizes, while also ensuring good safety and a lower rate of capsule contraction," said Lin Liying.

What is capsular contracture? When a prosthesis is implanted during breast augmentation, the body produces an immune response that creates a "biological capsule." The so-called "capsule" refers to this thin layer that wraps around the prosthesis inside the body, causing the space to become narrower and leading to "contracture." When the capsule space is smaller than the volume of the implant, the shape of the breast will change, and in severe cases, it can become what is known as "rock hard breasts."

Lin Liying said that new implants are less likely to cause capsule contracture, so it is not necessary to massage them every day. "On the contrary, wearing the right bra is more important! After breast augmentation, the breasts become full and firm, so many women tend to avoid wearing supportive bras and switch to comfortable sports bras, or even just wear nipple covers without a bra. However, if this leads to breast sagging, the consequences can be serious!"

After breast augmentation, the breasts are heavier due to the presence of implants, making them more prone to sagging. Lin Liying reminds that sagging breasts can cause the skin to become loose, which means not only will a revision surgery be necessary, but also excess skin will need to be removed, which is quite troublesome. It is recommended to wear proper bras after breast augmentation and to maintain a stable weight without fluctuations to preserve beautiful breasts.
