Instructions for various medical devices

The Ministry of Health and Welfare announced: "'Aesthetic medicine' generally refers to medical techniques performed by qualified physicians, such as surgery, medications, medical devices, and biotechnology materials, to implement invasive or minimally invasive medical techniques to improve physical appearance, and 'not primarily for the purpose of treating diseases.'" This promotion is carried out by qualified physicians using medical techniques to "improve" physical appearance through minimally invasive medical techniques, in accordance with the Ministry of Health and Welfare's document No. 0990262180 and No. 1031662939. It falls under off-label use, and physicians must adequately inform patients of the reasons for use and the potential risks before obtaining consent; regarding indications, contraindications, and other side effects, physicians will explain on a case-by-case basis.

The "other improper means of promotion" referred to in Article 86, Item 7 of the Medical Law has been amended by the Ministry of Health and Welfare Order No. 10516667434. All medical procedures carry risks, and their effects vary from person to person. Therefore, no one may endorse or recommend, but sharing personal experience results that fully disclose accurate information and comply with other medical advertising regulations may not be considered improper advertising.
